What is Coaching?

Coaching consist of many components, starting with this formal definition from 25 year industry leader ICF (International Coach Federation)

ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

In other words:

Coaching is a partnership between coach and client.

The client has coachable goals (future aspirations) that require growth and improvement.

Ultimately the coach helps the client achieve their personal best in their personal and professional lives!

Why would an Individual need a coach?

How can coaching help me unlike other personal development programs?

Good coaching is designed to help you reach and maximize your greatest potential.

Potential is defined as what you are capable of and who you are becoming.

Coaching helps you to dive into your untapped power and hidden strengths. It is designed to bring out the best in you.

How does coaching different from mentoring?

Mentoring you learn from a expert, usually in your field, you want to know what they know because you want to get to their level of knowledge.

Coaching you already possess a certain level of knowledge or know what you know (and may even refer to yourself as an expert).

You hire a coach to support or propel you to take specific actions as you pursue your dreams and aspirations based on what you know, not others.  When you hire a coach you are ready to take your life to the next level.

Both Mentors and Coaches support the overall development of YOU!

What types of coaching are there?

Since its 1992 conception and present day this field has had tremendous growth and there is a coach in every genre of life you can think of i.e. business coaches, nutrition coaches, relationship coaches, the list is too numerous to name.

Is Coaching for individuals or groups?

This medium has morphed from the sole purpose of serving individuals to the current day offering to serve groups.  The needs of the people and the solutions coaching provides to help individuals to become the best version of themselves has dictated the need to service both individuals and groups. More coaches are needed to serve an ever growing population of evolving human beings.

How do I know if coaching is right for me?

Simple, you want to become the best you! And you realize you cannot achieve your BIG dreams on your own.

How much is the cost of coaching?

Coaching initially and still is marketed to those who have the fat pockets to pay. The rich know the value of coach and don’t hesitate to pay.  Remember, even Bill Gates has a coach, why because wealth does not stop the human desire to want to be better or the best at what he or she desires to be!    Pricing is all over the place, but again the needs of the people are driving the price.

“One is never done until he no longer partakes of breath on this earth” M. W.

Hopefully within you there is a constant desire to want to become the best you so coaching is never truly completed. One can however come to a place of contentment and feel good about what he or she has accomplished with the support of a coach. Quite frankly you decide when you no longer need a specific coach, depending on your given need at the time. For example you may start with a business coach then transition to a nutrition coach. The need for improvement is never ending.

In terms of a specific timeframe and the actual dedicated time required to successfully complete a program, plan to invest weeks and possible years to a coach.  The time invested, again depends on you the client.  Are you striving to accomplish small goals (goals that can be accomplished in weeks)?  or BIG goals (goals that require months, even years accomplish)?

On the average plan to spend 30 – 60 minutes of your weekly time or possible 2 hours a session.  It depends upon the agreement/s set by you and your coach.
